Aussie duo, for KING & COUNTRY, secures Song and Artist of 2014

Aussie duo for KING & COUNTRY has secured dual honours in the 2014 Australian National Christian Music Charts, claiming the top spot for both Song of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Song of the Year, Fix My Eyes, was played more than any other Christian song on Australian Christian radio in 2014. Music researcher Wes Jay says, “Fix My Eyes spent a total of 30 weeks in the survey. It dominated the top spot for 11 consecutive weeks, and was in the top 10 for 29 weeks.” Jay says, “That’s unprecedented!”forkingandcountry

The pair enjoyed the highest rotation airplay by any Christian act throughout the Christian music sector. Fix My Eyes, along with Hope Is What We Crave and Messengers (with Lecrae) were regularly represented in the weekly charts, and all three songs made the top 100.

This award marks the second year running that brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, the brains behind for KING & COUNTRY, have received the honour of Artist of the Year.

Joel Smallbone says they’re humbled by the honors.

“It’s one thing to be recognised in America for your music and songwriting. But to be recognised in your home country is both humbling and incredibly exciting.

“I think the next thing on the docket now – since it’s been two consecutive years – is to return home and tour,” Joel says.
