Pastor McMartin case set for Sept hearing with a not guilty plea

John McMartin, ex-pastor of Inspire Church, maintained his plea of not guilty of indecent assault when his court case came up for mention at Liverpool District court this morning.

The case will be heard on October 11, 2021. The court registrar noted there was no AVO in this case.

McMartin, also former NSW president of the Australian Christian Churches (ACC), was accused of sexual misconduct with a woman, alleged to have occurred eight years ago. Eternity understands that the alleged victim was a young woman, 19 years old at the time of the alleged assault.

While McMartin maintained his innocence, he stepped down from all his roles at an Inspire Church shortly after being charged by police “until the matter is dealt with by the courts”, according to a statement by the church.

McMartin was not present at today’s short hearing.
