YouTube sensation HiJosh breaks the mould

Josh Hawkins went viral in 2015, with a video called The Thug Life Chose Me, in which he throws things into other things. There really is no other way to describe it. Without looking at what he was doing, he threw a knife into a knife block, a plate into a dishwasher, and a bottle of milk into the fridge, and recorded the results. Watch the clip below. No really, watch it.

These days he has just shy of 15 million YouTube views, and has a suite of funny videos to entertain the masses. He has appeared on Australia’s Got Talent, The Project, and any number of news programmes.

But Josh isn’t only a famous YouTuber, he is also a youth pastor at a church in Sydney’s northwest. He sees his YouTube presence as yet another way of sharing Jesus with people.

“I can end my life being faithful to Jesus … that’s a win for me.” – Josh Hawkins

“The way that I see the world, and the way that I see sharing Jesus with people, it’s not always in telling people exactly, you know, here’s the five steps of what it means to be a Christian.

“There are so many verses in the Bible about simply living such a good life that people see your life and will want to worship God because of it, that you will shine like stars in the sky.

“The best thing I can do for Jesus; that I will get to heaven and he will say, ‘well done good and faithful servant’. He doesn’t say, ‘well done good and successful YouTuber’. It’s the simple life, so if I can end my life being faithful to Jesus … that’s a win for me.”
