Lyle is the Managing Director of the Australian Christian Lobby. He lives in Canberra.
Name a Bible character you resonate with and why.
Daniel. He served with courage at the highest levels of morally corrupt pagan super-powers but was untainted by their politics, culture and religion. I don’t claim to be untainted but Daniel inspires me.
What are you reading in the Bible at the moment?
Proverbs, Psalms and Acts.
Where do you read the Bible?
At my desk in my home office with a cup of tea.
Name one part of the Bible you keep coming back to again and again and why.
John 17 and Jesus’ prayer that his disciples be one. Because division exists.
Describe one of your Bible reading failures and what you learnt.
I used to think my eternal destiny was as a disembodied spirit in heaven. Now I understand it to be in a resurrected body living in a renewed earth.
What advice would you give someone struggling to read the Bible each day?
Never give up.
And just for fun, if you were a monster what would be your defining feature?
Bolts in my neck.
