Cowboy Caleb serving in Peru – together with David Jeyachandran

Aussie David Jeyachandran, a SIM missionary serving in Peru, introduces us to Caleb Hendricks, a ‘cowboy missionary.’ He shares his story of how he came to serve God as a missionary, while doing what he loves: working as a cowboy (horse wrangler) and teaching guitar while he serves the Lord in Peru.

David asks the question, “What would you say to someone who’s interested in serving in mission, but who’re not sure where to serve?

Watch Caleb to hear his story and hear his advice:

Serving in flooded Niger

SIM’s blog this week asks the question, “So what do you do when life and ministry as you’ve known it changes forever?” Their blog post shows how Niger missionaries are beginning to pick up the pieces and as they do that they are finding reasons to laugh, and shares pictures and comments coming via social media from the missionaries. The blog post is called, A Day without laughter is a day wasted – click to see the pictures and comments.

Mercy Ships Australia

This August, Aussie Christians report on their short term mission experiences serving with Mercy Ships ministries.

Nick Kitching and George Bate, both from Sydney’s northern beaches, speak about serving as in the maintenance team for the Africa Mercy ship.

Jacki Huestis, a nurse from Brisbane, back from her fourth period of service as a volunteer with Mercy Ships onboard the Africa Mercy in the poorest nations of West Africa, shares her reasons for going and recent experiences.

Robyn Walton of Toronto, who spent a month doing voluntary work on the Africa Mercy, says, “Like so many others who have served in Africa, my life has been touched.” She goes on to speak about the tasks she found herself doing as a volunteer.

We know some missionaries work in sensitive countries and we’re setting things up so that they’re not compromised. Got a missionary we should know about? Email us here and we’ll follow them up.
