Coming soon: Kanye's Jesus Is King movie

Everything the headline says is true

Music mogul Kanye West will release a movie version of his ‘Sunday Service‘ next month in IMAX.

The announcement of this big-screen concert movie is the latest development in the timeline of West’s mysterious new album, Jesus is King.

In late August, West’s wife Kim Kardashian seemed to tell Instagram – and the whole world – that Jesus Is King would be released on September 27. The notebook featured appears to be a track listing following the final days of Jesus’ earthly life. Sorta.

September 27 came and went and Jesus Is King did not surface. However, this week brought the news of Jesus Is King – the movie version of the Sunday gatherings West has been hosting each week since January.

Held at different locations, West’s Sunday Service is an invite-only gathering featuring a gospel choir, matching outfits, celebrities and, some times, preaching. Including by West himself, who last month told his “congregation” in Georgia that “the road to hell is paved with, ‘Oh, I’m just a good person.'”

West continued, addressing God: “You sent your son to die for us and all you ask is for radical obedience to you.

“You’re not asking us to do the least … How are we gonna do the least when he did the most?”

“I’ve seen him work miracles in my life.

“You know the devil presents so many flashy, shiny objects. I’ve seen everything that the devil could’ve showed you via TV, videos, car dealerships, jewellery, houses, and I’ll tell you … Nothin’ beats God … and a sound mind.”

Like many people, West’s relationship with Jesus and following him has been a work in progress that others might find difficult to understand.

Perhaps Jesus Is King the movie will reveal all. Or more.
