Cardinal George Pell has been removed from his top Vatican job, as a member of Pope Francis’ Council of Cardinal Advisers.
The official Vatican news service reports its press officer, Greg Burke, as saying: “In October, the Pope had written to three of the more elderly Cardinals – Cardinal Pell from Australia, Cardinal Errazuriz from Chile and Cardinal Monsengwo of Congo thanking them for their work.” The report adds, “so they are no longer part of the Council.”
However, there are reports in other Catholic sources overseas with more details.
