Lego lovers, it's competition time

The Big Family Build 2021 is on!

Good news for those who have been flexing their Lego skills during recent Covid lockdowns and restrictions: Your practice may just pay off, with entries now open for the 2021 Big Family Build competition.

Organised by Zenos Media, the Big Family Build is an annual Christian-based Lego competition, in which Lego enthusiasts team up with a family member (or someone they consider family) to build a creation based on a particular theme.

This year’s theme is Bible metaphors and similes, which are used through the Old and New Testament to describe God, Jesus, ourselves and the world.

The Big Family Build website gives examples such as, ‘I am the light of the world’ or ‘Keep me as the apple of your eye’, along with a list of other metaphor and similes.

Competitors from Season 2 of the popular Lego Masters TV show, Josh and Andrew, will be judging this year’s competition.

First prize is a $250 Lego voucher, with numerous other prizes also on offer. There is a special prize category for builds by kids 16 years and under (constructions can be made with Duplo, as well as Lego).

Entries close on July 16, with the people’s choice award judged online from 17 to 21 July, and winners announced on July 24. Futher details are available on the Big Family Build website.

For families still in lockdown during July, Xenos Media has also put together some Lego-based ideas for family devotions at home.
