Now's your chance to go to a prayer breakfast

In your PJs

Prayer breakfasts held around the country attract thousands but it is entirely possible you have never been able to get to one. They tend to be held in a city’s CBD which means business types can get there most easily.

But in the COVID era, everyone can go. For example, the Sydney Prayer Breakfast is on this week, on Wednesday May 27 from 7am (but later for you in the west).

“It’s turned into a wonderful moment of common purpose and prayer.” – Karl Faase

“In the midst of challenging and uncertain times it has never been more important for the church to come together and pray,” says Karl Faase, CEO of Olive Tree Media and a member of the board that organises the breakfast.

“This livestreamed prayer breakfast will be led by politician, journalistic, medical, faith, community and business leaders as we seek God on behalf of our nation. In what could be disappointment [about] not meeting physically, it’s actually turned into a wonderful moment of common purpose and prayer.”

John Anderson, the former Deputy PM, will be the main speaker at the breakfast. NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet is one of the pray-ers.

Last week Eternity was told that 1200 households had registered. Signing up is free here which gives you online access.

As Neville Cox, chair of the Breakfast Board, says: “With the opportunity to stream the [Prayer] Breakfast this year, a wider group of people than usual will be able to participate in the event and pray for our City at this important time.”

Here are the  pray-ers who will lead the Sydney Prayer Breakfast:

  • Dr Ern Crocker, NSW State chair of the Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship of Australia
  • Jon Owen, CEO of Wayside Chapel
  • Tracey Kirkland, ABC’s Senior Newsgathering Editor
  • The Honourable Dominic Perrottet, Treasurer of NSW
  • Naomie Nguyen, a Vice President of the Sydney University Evangelical Union
  • Philippa Breen, Management Consultant at Bain & Company
  • The MC is Anna Burke (Crusaders)
