This is a Senior Position at the College and they will be part of the Primary Leadership Team. The successful applicant would be accountable to the College Headmaster through the Deputy Headmaster and the Director of Teaching and Learning T-6. They would be a teacher with demonstrated primary leadership and qualifications suitable for such a leadership role.

Areas of responsibility:

Assume the role of Director of Teaching and Learning (DOTL) T-6, if required. Attend College organisational meetings including some evenings and non-term time as required.

The Teaching and Learning Coordinator, 3-6, will be accountable to the Director of Teaching and Learning, T-6, for:

Administration 3-6

  • Responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and management of staff 
  • Oversight of significant events and assemblies for these years 
  • Management of the teaching and learning budget 
  • Assisting in the preparation and completion of regulatory documentation
  • Supporting the DOTL in the orientation of new Primary staff and students
  • Chairing Primary 3-6 staff meetings
  • Responsibility for external testing requirements eg NAPLAN, ICAS Competitions, VALID
  • Student Reports

Teacher Management 3-6

  • Instructional Leadership/Mentoring of staff, including teaching practice and classroom management
  • Oversight of staff progressing to Proficient Teacher Level
  • Correction of staff where needed
  • Oversight of Stage Leaders (Stage 2 and Stage 3)

Teaching and Learning 3-6

  • Developing, implementing and overseeing programming 3-6 as per NESA requirements
  • Making recommendations to the DOTL for teacher class allocation and Stage Leader candidates
  • Membership of relevant College committees, in consultation with the DOTL
  • Management of Primary Captains and House Captains selection process
  • Parent contact regarding significant matters pertaining to Teaching and Learning 3-6
  • Teaching load/class as determined by the DOTL
  • Developing and monitoring the use of summative and formative assessment
  • Collection and analysis of data

Communication

  • Conveyance of, and advocacy for, staff recommendations to the DOTL
  • Effective communication of and advocacy for Executive and Primary DOTL decisions
  • Working closely with the Senior Staff at the College – particularly the Teaching and Learning Coordinator T-2, Pastoral Care Coordinators, Advanced Learning and Learning Support Coordinator, Primary Sport Coordinator and ICT Coordinator 
  • Strong personal presence at College community events such as working bees, ANZAC day, staff functions
  • Meet regularly with the Primary Leadership Team to ensure the continued unity, continuity and promotion of T-6 as the Primary Department
  • Attend College Teaching and Learning Meetings chaired by the Primary and Secondary Directors

Other roles as determined by the Headmaster
