IJM Australia is seeking a qualified and skilled individual to join the team in the position of Finance & Compliance Manager.  The successful candidate will be joining a fast-growing, dynamic organisation and will perform the following duties:

Management Accounting:

  • Assist the Chief Executive and the Directors with annual budgeting and forecasting, including budgeting for field programs and departmental budgets.
  • Monitor financial risk including foreign exchange, cash flow, and programmatic risk, and in consultation with Chief Executive, mitigate it where possible
  • Produce monthly and quarterly forecasts and assessments of cash flow and performance against budget for the Chief Executive, Directors and Finance Committee. Including dashboard analysis, scorecard and other metrics.
  • Contribute to board level Finance Committee meetings
  • Provide cost accounting and project reports

Financial Administration:

  • Process accounts receivable and payable in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare month end bank, credit card and CRM (donation) reconciliations and internal reports for Chief Executive
  • Accurately administer payroll, including processing payments, optimising salary packaging, maintaining records and producing relevant reports
  • Maintain employee information as to classification, rates of pay, leave entitlements, deductions and superannuation
  • Create, maintain and improve internal finance administration processes to ensure IJM Australia finances are stewarded with excellence
  • Tax compliance CBAS, CAS, Annual Payment Summaries

Compliance:

  • Maintain systems and accounts to comply with regulatory and audit requirements
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports for taxation and other statutory bodies as required
  • Facilitate audits
  • In consultation with the Chief Execute, oversee the implementation of policies and regulatory reporting frameworks to ensure compliance with the laws, regulations and requirements of all government entities, partner entities and membership organisations to which IJM Australia is accountable.

Other:

  • Effectively manage and optimise relationships with financial service providers such as banks, superannuation companies, foreign exchange providers
  • Deal professionally with external stakeholders including IJM partners, donors and other service providers
  • Respond promptly to employee finance related inquiries
  • Contribute to executive reports and grant writing

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or Finance
  • Whilst a CA/ CPA qualification will be highly regarded, prior experience as mentioned below is required to be able to come onboard and hit the ground running
  • Ideally, minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting or financial management role
  • Demonstrated experience, ideally in the nonprofit sector, in financial management and accounting (including financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow modelling, audit, tax and compliance obligations including ACFID) – and an understanding of Australian Accounting standards
  • Understanding of NFP governance
  • Experience with Quick Books or similar system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office systems and procedures
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems (ideally Salesforce)
  • Demonstrated commitment to IJM’s core values
  • Excellent time management skills & attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively

 

Other information:

  • The Australia office of IJM was established in 2014 so we are in the early expansion phase of a growing NFP
  • This is a 0.6 FTE position based in the Sydney office
  • Flexible working arrangements are available by negotiation
