About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, passionate Media and Communications Administrator with strong initiative, and a keen desire to collate and share stories.

Working with the Media and Communications Delivery Manager, the main function of the role is to effectively communicate the story of SU QLD’s supporters, volunteers and staff to demonstrate the organisations rich history and its unique position in bringing hope to children and young people in Queensland.  You will have a good working knowledge of media, and writing styles for all types of mediums including digital, direct mail, social media and corporate communications. 

This role requires someone who is self-motivated, has excellent time management skills, works well to deadlines and enjoys working both in a team environment and autonomously. We are particularly interested in candidates who can show their understanding of working within a brand.  Candidates who have worked in the Non Profit industry will be highly considered.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have gained a Journalism, Public Relations or Communications degree with 3+ years experience in a corporate role
  • Have demonstrated experience in dealing with media enquiries and a proven ability to successfully pitch good news stories to media
  • Experience in writing for a range of outlets including, fundraising appeal letters, media releases, online, newsletters, reports, marketing collateral, social media and blogs
  • Highly proficient in interviewing to create compelling story content
  • Possess good project management skills, with excellent attention to detail and a strong ability to work to deadline
