Scripture Union Queensland is a Christian not-for-profit with a heart for youth and children. We are the largest provider of school chaplains in Australia, and each chaplain is uniquely placed to support our children and young people as they navigate life’s increasingly complex issues. We run camps, community outreach events and At-Risk Youth programs, and offer nationally recognised training programs in youth work at both Certificate IV and Diploma levels.

Ukraine crisis as Russia invades


We are seeking an experienced Software Developer with a passion and a positive can-do attitude for Information Technology.

Reporting to the IT Manager, you will be a key member of the IT team, responsible for the ongoing maintenance and development of SU QLD internal Intranet, public web based services, automation of internal IT Systems, proprietary software products and custom solutions to integrate with external providers and cloud-based services.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Demonstrated experience in and medium-to-high level knowledge of the PHP language
  • Medium level knowledge of MySQL databases
  • Basic frontend development skills (HTML, CSS and\JavaScript)
  • Principles of Object-oriented design
  • jQuery
  • Front-end JavaScript frameworks (such as AngularJS)
  • Experience in the use of Composer for dependency management
  • Experience in the use of version control in a team environment (particularly Git)
  • Development in a Linux environment
  • Exposure to and understanding of unit testing (such as PHPUnit)
  • Exposure to PHP frameworks (particularly Symfony)
  • Understanding of continuous integration, release cycles and development processes
  • Demonstrated experience working within a team environment
  • Experience in working autonomously and responding with urgency as required
