“We glorify God for answered prayer—the remaining twelve hostages are FREE!” Christian Aid Ministries announced this morning. “Join us in praising God that all seventeen of our loved ones are now safe. Thank you for your fervent prayers throughout the past two months. We hope to provide more information as we are able.”
“I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously” (Exodus 15:1b).
The freeing of the twelve means that all the 17 missionaries kidnapped in October by an armed gang in Haiti have been released,
Christian Aid Ministries “strives to be a trustworthy and efficient channel for Amish, Mennonite, and other conservative Anabaptist groups and individuals to minister to physical and spiritual needs around the world.” The ministry reports that Christians around the world have been fasting and praying for the release of the missionaries.
The group of 17 included five men, seven women and five children, the BBC reported. The adults are aged 18 to 48 years old, while the children are all under 15 years old. They had been kidnapped while travelling to an orphanage in an area controlled by a criminal gang.
According to the AFP news agency, the release of the remaining 12 has been confirmed by local police. But it is not known if any ransom money was paid. Haiti has an unfortunate reality of kidnapping being used to fund gangs with hundreds of incidents each year.
