This is a full time role which will also include managing our West Ryde Pages Café.

Role Specifics:

This position supports all facilities by creating and implementing concepts, monitoring individual front-of-house and back-of-house activities of the Cafés to include purchasing through service of all operations.

Reporting directly to the General Manager of Retail Operations, this key role will work closely with the Support teams, Koorong Store Managers, and Café personnel. This position will also manage all national and local food and beverage vendor agreements. Travel is required nationally to invoke programs and audit performance.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and forecast food & beverage revenues and expenses to ensure company goals are met
  • Monitor and develop menus and prices in conjunction with the Cafe Managers, applicable to corporate standards and the competitive landscape
  • Direct Management responsibility for Café at West Ryde location
  • Prepare periodic management reports illustrating sales volume, cost of goods sold labour, and areas of proposed improvements on revenue and cost improvements
  • Trouble-shoot and implement solutions for identified Cafe problems and issues
  • Leads all training on Cafe systems, service, standards and operations

Key Criteria:

The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management highly regarded
  • 5+ years of related F&B experience (multi-unit environment preferred), café experience preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable State food safety and handling, policies and procedures
  • Must have direct experience in all key aspects of food & beverage operations relating to café management, including levels of service, catering sales & marketing, culinary, sanitation, cash flow and full P&L responsibility
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal/relationship building skills
  • Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented
  • Must be proficient with technology, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook as well as intimate knowledge of POS systems
