Position Title: Pastor (Young Adults & Equip)
Focus Ministry: To pastor and coach/equip 18-30’s in our community to live missional lives for Christ
Responsible to: Elders Board/Coordinating Pastor
Status: Full-time Hours per Week: 38 (Including 4 weekdays plus Sunday)


Purpose Statement :
To build into the identity and vision of New Life Evangelical Church through the pastoral ministry within the context of the young adults (18-30) of English congregation. This is to the achieved through

Ukraine crisis as Russia invades


  • Shepherding the congregation through relationship, care, pastoral support and outreach programs.
  • Leading the lifegroup ministry and supporting the leaders through 1v1 discipleship.
  • Teach the Word of God faithfully through discipleship meetings and on the Sunday pulpit when required
  • Be a part of the strategic planning for the Envisage/young adult lifestage. 
  • Be a part of the English pastoral team along with its relevant tasks 
  • Be accountable to the programs for members of NLEC to grow into Christ-loving disciples.
  • Fulfil other pastoral and operational duties when relevant to the growth of NLEC, as assigned by the co-ordinating pastor and Elders team.

All of the above will be conducted with the collaboration with the Senior Leadership of NLEC, the English Deacon Board and relevant English pastoral team member. 


Responsibilties and Tasks:
Leadership: to lead and implement strategy towards the vision of the church among 18-30’s Communicating and contextualising the church’s vision among the young adult (18-30) demographic

  • Developing and executing strategies alongside the Lifegroup and Young Adult Gatherings (Envisage) core teams
  • To partner with the English Deacon board in achieving the goals of New Life Evangelical Church
  • Building a leadership team of volunteers who will build a disciple-making culture among the young adults (18-30)
  • Identifying, developing and releasing new leaders to build missional disciples.
  • Assisting with day to day church operations (administration, budgets, leadership meetings etc.)
  • To be a part of building engaging and meaningful services for NLEC English

Teaching: to equip our community biblically through bible studies and pulpit teaching

  • Working with the English Pastoral Team to develop strategic plans and implement events and programs to equip the church biblically.
  • To prepare and deliver at least 10 sermons a year on Sunday Service in collaboration with the Pastoral and teaching team
  • To prepare fortnightly bible studies for our Lifegroup ministry and to equip our leaders to use them 
  • Provide training for church leaders when required
  • To give biblical input into our strategic and pastoral decisions when appropriate. 
  • To partner with the co-ordinating pastor to plan and execute the teaching vision. 
  • To teach discipleship classes when required. 
  • To provide training for church members when the needs arise

Pastoral Care: to live out and develop a culture of care and prayer within NLEC English     

  • Be a point of contact for members enquiries. 
  • Shepherd the congregation to which you are responsible through relationship, care, pastoral support and practical assistance.
  • Praying for and responding to needs identified in prayers requests and through other channels.
  • Conduct pastoral phone calls and/or visits regularly. 
  • Identify people in need of assistance and organize and /or provide appropriate help.
  • Maintain a Christian based awareness for the social concerns of all God’s people.
  • Develop, cultivate and advocate a team ministry among the pastoral team, staff and ministry teams to carry out the mission of the church.
  • Facilitate the utilization of the ministry teams’ strengths to best complement each other keeping NLEC church unity as a whole.

Generational Ministry: to connect our generations to God and each other

  • To work with the Lifegroup core team to engage our young adults to attend and value lifegroups for themselves.
  • To work with the Young Adult Gathering (Envisage) core team to engage our young community in purposeful gatherings and events. 
  • To identify and coach up young adults to live missionally in their study/work space. 
  • To co-ordinate efforts to transition year 12’s into the young adult space and then young adults into the adult space.

Mission: To develop an awareness of God’s mission in the lives of our members.

  • To communicate and encourage our members to participate in God’s mission for the world, particularly in their family but also locally, in their study/work space or internationally.

Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned by the Church as required from time to time.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

1.    Skills, Knowledge, Abilities 
a.    Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities in managing people, teams and project management skills

b.    Self starter with the ability to plan, strategize and implement their ministry plans and to communicate to all appropriate parties; 

c.    A good team leader and team player;

d.    A passion for coaching and discipling young adults for their missional calling;

e.    Sound bible knowledge and reasonable preaching skill with desire for continuous improvement;

f.    Willing to learn and work with the NLEC story, building upon it and challenging from a place of understanding;

2. Character and Personal Qualifications

Being a staff member of NLEC the following are necessary:
a.    Relationship & Total commitment to Jesus Christ;
b.    Commitment to NLEC and its vision;
c.    Commitment to the leadership of NLEC, and ability to work in a team environment while keeping Unity in Christ as a priority;
d.    Spiritual maturity consisting of a pleasant, forgiving, non-judgmental, but assertive manner;
e.    Initiative to the ministry tasks;
f.    Confidentiality when appropriate; 
g.    Ability to work under pressure and remain calm;
h.    Ability to meet deadlines (may involve working outside normal hours);
i.    Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team, members of congregation and general public;

Job Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must:

f.    Love coaching and developing disciples and leaders who will bring the gospel into the world around them

g.    Willing to learn and work with the NLEC story, building upon it and challenging from a place of understanding;

In addition to the qualities above, we require candidates to have have completed a theological degree.
