Mission Aviation Fellowship is a worldwide family of Christian organisations whose mission is to use light aircraft, and other technologies, to bring help and hope to people in some of the worlds most isolated and poorest communities.

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Manager to join the international HR team.  Working closely with the Regional Director, Country Directors, operational HR Managers and other senior management you will provide guidance on all HR policies and practices and participate in the decision making process for the region. As such, the role has strategic and day-to-day operational responsibilities for our HR activities in Australia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste.  With over 70 expat staff, from all around the world (many on assignment with their families) and 200 national staff there is an increased complexity to managing the HR function in the region. Managing a small team of HR professionals (some of these remotely) you will play a key role in their personal development.

**NOTE: This position is only open to those with a ‘right to work’ in Australia due to Immigration restrictions.**

This is a broad role including;

  • Prioritising and maintaining strong healthy relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Strategic planning including workforce planning,  forecasting needs, succession planning and working with the international recruitment team on sourcing
  • Providing coaching, guidance and advice to people managers in dealing with employee relations and performance management matters
  • Supporting the overall wellbeing of staff and their families
  • Safeguarding
  • Supporting the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and handbooks
  • Supporting and facilitating Learning and Development initiatives 
  • Ensuring the organisation is compliant with employment relation laws
  • The successful applicant will be expected to take part in and lead prayer and biblical reflection, and to be a role model for the organisation in accordance with our Christian beliefs and standards in the workplace.

The successful candidate will need to be Qualified to degree level with a professional qualification in HR (CIPD/AHRI or equivalent) you will have proven experience of leading and developing a team of HR professionals.

In addition, you will ideally have the following:-

  • Working knowledge of Australian Employment Law
  • A minimum of five years HR experience two of which should be in managing a HR team
  • Experience of working in multi-functional and culturally diverse teams
  • Developed and implemented HR strategies, policies, handbooks and procedures
  • Facilitated learning and development within the workplace
  • Played a key role in enhancing organisational performance and staff wellbeing
  • Previous experience in a mission setting or Christian organisation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

There will be a requirement to travel internationally for 8 – 12 weeks to visit programmes and attend international HR team meetings.
