About the Position

Located on our spacious campus at Bundaberg East, Anglicare SQ’s fully accredited service of Meilene, is strengthened by a team of values-driven professionals who sincerely care about what we do and the difference we make in our residents’ lives.  The service is focused on providing excellent 24 hour nursing and care assistance and also provides special accommodation and recreational amenities for those with dementia. Short-term residential respite is also available.  Meaning ‘welcome’, Meilene is the name of the homestead which originally stood on the property.

We have a rare opportunity within our team for a Coordinator, Spiritual and Pastoral Care, working 16 hours per fortnight coordinating and providing spiritual and pastoral care to residents at Meilene and their families, including appropriate and accessible resources.

About You

With demonstrable experience within a local community of faith and a firm sense of your own spiritual identity, you will also have capabilities in:

  • Providing pastoral support to residents and their families, within professional scope in an environment of trust and confidentiality
  • Understanding of the relevant legislative requirements relating to the community aged and disability sector
  • Managing crises in the practice of pastoral care by identifying issues and possible solutions to problems
  • Offering professional/operational supervision to Pastoral Care Volunteers
  • Coordinating religious, spiritual and pastoral care providers and volunteers to provide a seamless single point of contact for all religious, spiritual and pastoral care activities within the service
  • Arranging activities and venues as appropriate to support pastoral care

Your exceptional communication skills, and ability to share your own knowledge in a respectful, caring manner, will be coupled with:

  • A history of regard for others, including spiritual belief and personal circumstance
  • Respectful of confidentiality and the need maintain integrity and professional understanding
  • Comfortable following organisational and business processes, with previous experience in a hospital or community care setting

To be successful in this role, you will need Ecumenical Hospital Chaplains Qualification, Spiritual Care Australia Category 2 or similar and a current National Police Certificate.
