Overview:

Following the resignation of our successful Victorian Director in July, we are looking for a suitable person who can build on that work. A significant supporter base already exists and so the role requires both relationship maintenance and developing of new supporters.  The focus of the role is to fundraise with high net worth individuals and churches in the Melbourne area and beyond. Belief in the vision, values and strategy of OCA is essential, as well as being able to credibly promote our ministry in those contexts. We provide extensive training and support, but the crucial personal characteristics needed for the role are an enjoyment of meeting people; an ability to build relationships that make talking about our ministry a natural activity, and; happily inviting people to participate financially knowing that it is a privilege for the asker and the asked.

 Reporting to the Executive Director in Sydney and cooperating with other national office staff, the Victorian Director will determine the strategic and tactical operations in Victoria to further the ministry and implement those activities.

 The Victorian Director organises visits of our international speakers in their region twice a year with assistance from the National Office. Presentations in churches and other Christian meetings are a necessary part of expanding the support.

 The Victorian Director has responsibility for representing OCA internationally when visiting our partner colleges in the developing world.

 The Director will be required to travel to Sydney (1-2 days) several times a year and internationally in the developing world (1-2 weeks) each year.

 The role is 2 days per week, permanent part-time. The weekly rhythm can be adjusted to suit other commitments in most weeks. The annual rhythm of work allows for some extra time off in school holidays which is balanced with some busier weeks in term time.

The key areas of responsibility are:

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing donors through personal contact.
• Identifying prospective donors including individuals, churches, foundations and affiliated organisations and cultivate positive relationships.
• Achieving agreed income targets for the region.
• Working with the OCA national office staff on promotional events and with our existing group of volunteers. As the ministry grows it may involve supervising staff.
• Representing OCA internationally when visiting partner colleges in the developing world which could involve consulting with college leaders and monitoring projects.

 The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes and skills:

• Christian commitment and appreciation of interdenominational ministry.
• Interest in the developing world, mission, and a belief in the value of leadership training.
• Strategic insight and tactical competence to achieve outcomes.
• Successful fundraising or sales experience in any field.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with high net worth individuals and in various church contexts.
• Proven organisational ability. Able to complete tasks within deadlines.
• A capacity to travel interstate and overseas to developing world countries.
• General computer competence for office work.
• Sense of humour, energetic, positive attitude.
• Effective and collaborative team player and an ability to work independently.
